Scholarships: Financial assistance provided to SWACUHO members so that they may attend regional and national professional development events.  Awarded amount is applied to conference registration only. Any exceptions must be requested to, and approved by, the SWACUHO executive board.   Applicants must be first-time attendees to the event.  Applications will be selected based on need and then merit.  Applicants should be from a member institution.

James Grimm National Housing Training Institute (NHTI)
  • Registration cost will be paid directly to ACUHO-I James Grimm National Housing Training Institute.
  • Applicant applies directly to NHTI (January).
  • The SWACUHO President is notified of NHTI participants from the region.
  • Award scholarship from ACUHO-I is divided among all the members selected from our region 

Bob Cooke Scholarship for Mid-Level Professionals

  • Registration cost will be paid directly to ACUHO-I.
  • A general announcement is made via website and Google Groups.
  • Executive board members will review the received applications and determine award winners.   

ACUHO-I Fall Conference Workshops (Deadline September 9, 2024)
(Housing Facilities, Business Operations, Academic Initiatives)

  • Available to SWACUHO members who have NOT previously attended a fall series conference
  • Awarded to 1 recipient per conference (multiple awards not allowed)
  • Scholarship is in the form of a paid registration
  • Registration will be paid directly to ACUHO-I
  • Awardee(s) will be notified on August 1

Mid-Level ACUHO-I Institute Scholarship

  • Registration costs will be paid directly to ACUHO-I.
  • Applicant applies directly to ACUHO-I Mid-Level Institute.
  • The SWACUHO President notifies the Past-President of accepted attendees.
  • SWACUHO Past President reaches out to accepted attendees, provides application, with an application due date of no less than five weeks before the first day of the conference.
  • Executive board members will review the received applications and determine award winners.

Stars College Scholarship (Deadline August 25, 2024)

  • Available Funds: $1,000 is divided between recipients with maximum of full registration cost of any attendee.
  • Registration cost will be paid directly to ACUHO-I.
  • Applicant applies directly to Stars College.
  • The SWACUHO President is notified of Stars College participants from the region.
  • SWACUHO President notifies the Past-President of accepted attendees.
  • SWACUHO Past President reaches out to accepted attendees, provides application, with an application due date of no less than five weeks before the first day of the conference.
  • Executive board members will review the received applications and decide on award winners.

SWACUHO Do Work Scholarship

  • SWACUHO Annual Conference registration cost will be covered for up to three individuals
  • Applicant must never have attended a SWACUHO annual conference
  • Application must be a graduate student or entry level
  • Applicant must show a proven work ethic, commitment to further the concepts of diversity & social justice, and have plans for their future within residence life, student affairs, or an associated field
  • Awardee(s) will be notified before annual conference registration opens

ACUHO-I Strategic Cohorts Scholarship 

  • The recipient shall be at least one of the following:
    • Be a professional of color. 
    • Be a professional working full-time at a small college or university (under 2,000 beds) or an HBCU, Tribal or religious university. 
    • Be a new or advancing professional (defined as five (5) or less years of full-time experience in the campus housing field). 
    • Be a professional with an accepted presentation proposal to the current annual ACUHO-I Campus Home Live Conference.  

ACUHO-I New / Advancing Professional Scholarship

  • Recognizes new and advancing professionals in the campus housing field or professionals who are new to the organization / conference
  • Helps delegates connect with other professionals through networking opportunities
  • Facilitates mentoring and provide access to new knowledge
    • The recipient shall be a new / advancing professional with five (5) years or less of full-time experience in the campus housing field. 
    • Recipient shall be a professional of color or a professional from a small college or university defined as less than 2,000 beds including HBCUs, Tribal, and other minority-serving institutions.
